Part 2 · Set up
Connecting social accounts
What each network needs, how a post there goes out, and what is still true after you connect.
01What it is
Each network you post to is connected once, through its own sign-in. LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon post for you at the scheduled time; TikTok sends the video to your TikTok inbox to finish; YouTube and Pinterest remind you, with the words ready to copy.
02Why it exists
A scheduler that posts to two networks and quietly drops the rest is worse than one that is honest about all of them. So every network is listed with what it needs before you connect and what will still be true after, and a network that cannot be posted to automatically still gets a reminder at the right time.
Nothing here drives your logged-in browser or asks for your account password. Every connection is the network's own sign-in, or for Bluesky an app password, which Bluesky makes for one app and you can revoke in one click.
03How to use it
- 01Open Posts, then Accounts, where the networks are listed most used first. Connect the networks you post to.
- 02For Instagram, press Continue with Instagram and sign in at instagram.com. It needs a professional account and no Facebook Page, and asks which account every time, so a second profile is added the same way.
- 03Connect through Facebook instead, or for Facebook Pages, with a Facebook login, one at a time; Instagram that way must be linked to a Page you manage, and the login must tick both.
- 04For Bluesky, make an app password in Bluesky settings and paste it with your handle.
- 05For Mastodon, type your server, then sign in there.
- 06If a network shows Needs reconnecting, press Reconnect. Scheduled posts for it wait as failed until you do, with the reason.
04What good looks like
- You give it
- Bluesky connected with an app password, and a post with a link in it.
- You get
- Posted at its time with the link clickable, because links and hashtags are marked the way Bluesky marks them, by byte position.
- Why
- Bluesky shows a link as plain text unless the post says where it is.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs
- You give it
- A personal Instagram account.
- You get
- Nothing connects, and the message says to switch it to a professional account.
- Why
- Instagram has no publishing API for personal accounts, for anybody.
