Part 3 · Operate

Inbox

Every reply from every channel in one place: email, LinkedIn as you viewed it, and comments on your own posts, each with a reply drafted in your voice and the deal beside it.

01What it is

One list of every conversation where somebody wrote back: a reply to an email you sent, a LinkedIn message the Sidecar saw while you viewed it, a comment on one of your own posts. Each shows who it is, the channel, their last message and whether it needs a reply, waits on them or is done. Open one to read the whole conversation, get a reply drafted in your voice, and see the person and their deal beside it.

02Why it exists

Replies arrive in five places and the one that matters is the one you did not open. The inbox puts them in one list ordered by what you owe, so a warm reply on LinkedIn does not wait behind a newsletter in your mail.

It never sends on LinkedIn or X for you. A reply there is copied, sent by you in the network, and marked as sent here, because those accounts are yours and automating them is the thing this product refuses to do. An email reply goes through Approvals and the same checks as every email.

03How to use it

  1. 01The inbox waits behind the shared_inbox flag. Once it is on for your account, Inbox appears first under Reach in the rail.
  2. 02Conversations that need a reply sit at the top, then the ones waiting on them, then done. Filter by status or channel, or search names, companies and messages.
  3. 03Open one with a click or with j and k. Press r to go to the reply, then Draft a reply to get one in your voice from the conversation, or write your own.
  4. 04An email in a thread your mailbox started: Send to Approvals. It goes out from your mailbox when you approve it, through the pre-send checks.
  5. 05LinkedIn and X: Copy reply, send it yourself in the network, then Mark as sent so the conversation shows as waiting and the next draft reads what you said.
  6. 06A comment on your own post: Reply on the post, sent from your connected account when you press it.
  7. 07Press e to mark a conversation done; a new reply opens it again. Press d to create a deal for the person, with deals on.

04What good looks like

You give it
A reply to a cold email the founder sent from their own mailbox: "This is timely. What does a pilot look like?"
You get
The conversation reads in order, the reply is drafted from it, and Send to Approvals puts the next email in the same thread into Approvals, where it waits for the founder like every email.
Why
loadThread finds the sent action with a mailbox thread behind it, and queueEmailReply drafts the child action through draftThreadEmail, the same path deal follow-ups use; tests/shared-inbox.test.ts holds it.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs

You give it
A drafted LinkedIn reply that offers "20% off if you sign this week", when nobody in the conversation mentioned a discount or a deadline.
You get
The sentence is cut before the founder sees the draft. If too little is left, the plain local reply is used instead.
Why
draftInboxReply runs gateDraft, whose commitments check finds the invented discount and deadline, and stripInvented removes the sentence; tests/shared-inbox.test.ts holds it.
