Part 3 · Operate

Post capture

On a LinkedIn post you have open, one click in Sidecar keeps the people shown in its reactions or comments as people who engaged.

01What it is

Open a LinkedIn post, yours or anybody’s, then open its reactions or scroll to its comments yourself. The Sidecar panel shows People on this post with a Capture button. Press it and Sidecar reads the names, headlines and profile links that are on your screen at that moment, with the post’s address, and the app adds them to People, Warmest, with the post as where they came from. They are scored like everybody else on that list and get a drafted note you send yourself.

02Why it exists

The people who react to a post about your problem, including a competitor's post, are often the people you want to talk to. Collecting them in the background is scraping and puts your account at risk, and it is not what this does: it keeps only what you are already looking at, when you ask.

The panel counts the people captured this week and how many are now in a conversation, so you can see whether it is worth the click.

03How to use it

  1. 01Turn on Sidecar and connect it, then open a LinkedIn post on its own page.
  2. 02Open the post’s reactions list, or scroll to the comments you want, yourself.
  3. 03In the Sidecar panel, press Capture who is on screen. It says how many people it kept and how many were new.
  4. 04Open People, Warmest. Each person shows the post as context, a fit score and a drafted note. Copy it, send it on LinkedIn yourself, and press Mark as sent.
  5. 05To capture more of the same list, scroll it yourself and press Capture again. Someone already kept from that post is not added twice.

04What good looks like

You give it
A post’s reactions list open with eight people visible, and the founder pressing Capture.
You get
Eight people kept with their names, headlines and profile links, each with the post as context, scored, and in People, Warmest.
Why
The reader takes only list rows inside the screen and inside the open list, and the app records each as an engagement with source sidecar_capture.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs

You give it
A post page with its reactions list closed and no comments loaded, and the founder pressing Capture.
You get
Nothing is kept. The panel says nobody is on screen and to open the reactions or comments first.
Why
It never opens the list, scrolls or clicks show more for you, so with nobody on screen there is nobody to keep.
