Connecting a mailbox
Outreach goes from your own inbox. Never from ours.
01What it is
Connect Gmail or Outlook and outreach sends from your address. The product never sends cold messages from its own infrastructure.
02Why it exists
Two reasons. A message from your own domain reaches the inbox that a message from a shared sending service does not, and a reply to it comes back to you rather than to a system.
The second reason is that the consequences land where the decisions are made. Your domain reputation is yours, so the caps and the auto-pause protect something you own.
03How to use it
- 01Connect from Settings, under Sending mailbox.
- 02Connect the address you want replies to arrive at.
- 03Watch the health indicator for the first fortnight. New addresses warm up.
- 04Reconnect when the token expires. Drafts queue while it is disconnected rather than failing.
04What good looks like
- You give it
- A mailbox on a domain that has been sending human email for years, connected before any outreach.
- You get
- Sends land, the identity stays healthy and the daily cap rises as the warm-up progresses.
- Why
- Domain history is what inbox placement is built on, and the warm-up state respects it.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs
- You give it
- A brand-new domain registered last week, connected and immediately sent at the cap.
- You get
- Bounces climb, the auto-pause fires and sending stops.
- Why
- A new domain has no sending history, and the bounce rate that triggers the auto-pause is deliberately low.
