Part 3 · Operate
Ask your team
Type a question about the venture and the answer streams back as parts of the product, with the numbers read from your data.
01What it is
A bar at the top of every venture page, also opened with Cmd K or Ctrl K, where you ask your team anything about this venture. The answer arrives as channel cards, clocks, charts, checklists, evidence and at most one row of buttons, drawn from the live answers components.
02Why it exists
A question you have to answer by opening four screens is a question you stop asking. Ask reads those screens for you and shows the parts that answer it, so you can check each one where it stands and act on it in place.
A model chooses which parts to show and passes only ids. The server fills every number in from your data, so a number the model typed cannot reach the screen: its own words go through a gate that drops any sentence with a number no data tool returned. Buttons are offered only for something the data returned and only where that thing allows them, and nothing runs until you press one.
When the data is thin the answer says so and names the next step, rather than guessing.
03How to use it
- 01Turn live answers on for the venture in Settings, Live answers. The bar appears at the top of every page.
- 02Press the bar, or Cmd K or Ctrl K anywhere, and ask in your own words. Starter questions follow what is on for the venture.
- 03With the new sidebar on, the bar offers three plain example questions, and typing a page’s name, new or old (Today, Accounts), shows a link to it above the question box. On a phone the bar is an icon in the top bar.
- 04Read the line under your question while the team works: it names what is really being read. Press Stop to end an answer early.
- 05Follow a number’s link to the screen it was read from, and press a card’s button to act on it. Approving, pausing and buying ask you to confirm first.
- 06Pin an answer to Today to keep it as a live card. It is redrawn with today’s numbers every time you open Today, with no new question counted.
- 07Open Earlier questions to search your past threads or delete one. They are yours alone, never shown to a teammate.
04What good looks like
- You give it
- An answer where the model reads one channel, shows its card, then writes: "You have 777 meetings booked. The channel is running."
- You get
- The channel card is drawn from the data, and the text block reads only "The channel is running." The first sentence is dropped because no data tool returned 777, and neither the model’s raw text nor the dropped number is ever sent to the browser.
- Why
- Display tools take ids and build their props on the server, and the number gate keeps a sentence only if every number in it traces to this answer’s data.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs
- You give it
- The model answers with a paragraph and a card for a channel id that does not exist.
- You get
- Nothing the model wrote is shown. The answer is one honest note saying it did not come together, and a chip to ask the same question again.
- Why
- Free text outside say and note is never forwarded, the card call fails its schema and draws nothing, and an answer that ends with no valid block always gets the fallback note.
