Part 4 · Play

Running several ventures at once

Two things to sell, two buyers, without diluting either.

Who this is for

You run a consultancy and a product, or two products with different buyers.

Before you start

  • A plan that allows more than one venture.

How long

An hour to set up, then reviewed separately.

The sequence

  1. 01

Create the second venture rather than widening the first. Two buyers cannot share one context.

    /venture/new5 minutes

  2. 02

Give it its own context, in its own words. Resist reusing the first one.

    /venture?step=product20 minutes

  3. 03

Paste voice samples again. If you write differently for the two audiences, use different samples.

    /venture?step=voice10 minutes

  4. 04

Choose channels per venture. They rarely match.

    /venture?step=channels5 minutes

  5. 05

Build a separate watchlist. Overlap is fine and copying the whole list is not.

    /venture?step=watchlist20 minutes

  6. 06

Work one venture per session. Switching mid-review is how the wrong voice gets approved.

You are done when

  • Each venture has its own context, voice and watchlist.
  • The learning screen reports each one separately.

The commonest way this fails

You give the second venture the first one’s context because it is faster. Both then produce writing aimed at a buyer who does not exist.
