The LinkedIn outreach loop

Connection, acceptance, touch two, touch three, and where almost everybody drops it.

Who this is for

You send connection requests and never follow up on the ones that get accepted.

Before you start

  • The browser companion installed and connected.

How long

Three weeks per thread, ten minutes a day across all of them.

The sequence

  1. 01

Send connection requests yourself, with a note or without. The companion records each one and starts the expiry clock.

    LinkedIn, Sidecar panel open10 minutes

  2. 02

Do nothing until one is accepted. The acceptance is the moment a cold contact becomes warm, and it is the only moment that matters here.

  3. 03

Touch one goes within a day. Reference something they wrote or something dated at their company. No pitch.

    /today5 minutes

You should see: A queued touch with a due date, drafted from their intel.

  4. 04

Touch two, several days later. This is where almost everybody stops, and it is the one that produces most replies.

    /today5 minutes

  5. 05

Touch three, and then stop. A fourth unanswered message is not persistence.

    /today5 minutes

  6. 06

Pause anybody who tells you they are busy rather than letting the cadence run.

    /conversations1 minute

You are done when

  • Every accepted connection has had at least one touch.
  • Nobody who replied has received a scheduled message afterwards.
  • No thread has more than three touches.

The commonest way this fails

You send fifty requests, twelve are accepted, and you touch none of them because there is no list telling you they are owed. That is the exact failure the companion exists to remove, so the fix is to open Today rather than LinkedIn.
