Part 3 · Operate

Deals

Every conversation from first reply to paid, with what needs you on top.

01What it is

The Deals screen follows each conversation after it starts: the meeting, the call, the follow-ups, the proposal, and won or lost. It shows what waits on you first, then the board by stage, companies that look like your wins, and the connections that move deals without typing. It appears once deals are switched on for the venture.

02Why it exists

Most revenue is lost after the first reply: a no-show nobody rescheduled, a call with no next step, a proposal nobody chased. None of those are hard. They are just easy to forget when you are also building the product.

So the team watches for each of them. Pact, the deals agent, writes a brief before every call, asks how it went fifteen minutes after, reads your notes, and drafts every follow-up in your voice. It never sends to a deal contact on its own: every draft waits for you, and a draft on a deal that began with a cold email goes through the same checks as any other email.

Certain evidence moves a deal by itself and tells you: a payment from the contact's own email, a booking, a buyer cancelling. Anything less certain, such as a reply that sounds like a yes, only proposes the move and waits for you.

03How to use it

  1. 01Start on Needs you: confirm or turn down each proposed move, answer "How did it go?" in one tap, and review the drafts waiting.
  2. 02Open Pipeline to see every open deal by stage. Drag a card to move it, or use its Move menu. Winning asks for the value; losing asks for the reason.
  3. 03Press L anywhere on these screens to log a call: pick the deal and paste your notes.
  4. 04With usage limits on, each set of notes counts against your plan's call notes and briefs for the period. A pause says why, when it resets, and offers the plans.
  5. 05Open More like your wins to see what your wins share, with the counts, and companies like them with their reasons. Approving adds them to the companies you watch; nobody is contacted.
  6. 06Open Connections to link your calendar, booking links, your own Stripe (read only), your CRM and company search.
  7. 07With engager signals on, Create deal on People, Warmest starts a deal at Talking from somebody who engaged with your posts, the engagement as its first touch (see Warmest people).
  8. 08With the revenue forecast on, Needs you and Pipeline open with the expected revenue for the next 30, 60 and 90 days, and the deals it leaves out for want of a value or a close date (see Revenue forecast).

04What good looks like

You give it
A positive reply arrives on a cold email to a person with no open deal.
You get
A deal starts at Talking, linked to the email, the person and the channel that produced it, with the first and last touch recorded.
Why
A reply processed twice still makes one deal: deals are unique per source email and per person while open.

05What weak looks like, and what it costs

You give it
A payment arrives from someone at the same company as a deal contact, but from a different email.
You get
The deal is not closed. A move to Won is proposed with the payment as evidence, for you to confirm.
Why
Only an exact match on a deal contact's email is certain enough to move a deal by itself; a company match only proposes.
